6 Masterpieces of UNESCO in Yakutsk Home News May 23, 2012 The 5th Children of Asia Interna¬tional Sports Games will include extensive cultural activities, which will involve several thousand residents of Yakutia and guests of our Republic this year.
One of the main events of the Games is the ceremony of lighting the fire. The show of Grand Opening and Closing traditionally will take place at the Tuymaada Stadium. The finals of Polar Star children’s television festival will be held during Games, which gathers talented children from all over the country. Participants of the Mammoth 2012 International Youth Festival will march past in Yakutsk for the third time as well. Various concerts will be organized for residents and guests of the Republic on Lenin Square such as “Dances of the Peoples of the World” to mark the Year of Friendship and Unity as well as the cultural program of the State Philharmonic of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia). Various exhibitions, seminars and round tables will also be organized. Thus, Yakut people and guests will appreciate the creativity of bone carvers from all over Russia. All theaters of the capital will finish their season only after Games. Many events are planned to be held in the Olympic Village of the Games. Also the 2nd International Festival named as “Meeting of UNESCO's Masterpieces on the Land of Olonkho” will take place during the Games. Masterpieces from around the world will meet on the scene of the Platon Oyunsky Sakha Academic Theater. These are the “No Theater” (Japan), the “Wayang Puppet Theater” (Indonesia), the “Opera dei Pupi” Sicilian Puppet Theater (Italy), “Kutiyattam” Sanskrit Theater (India), “Kunqu” Opera (China) and “Olonkho” Theatre (Russia). Thereby, residents of Yakutsk and our guests can enjoy not only the hottest sports battles but also no less interesting cultural program this summer.
